What We Leave Behind

"A Man never knows how to say goodbye; a Woman never knows when to say it." My Mama always said that "Women know when we know." And I would ask "Know what?" and she would respond with "Everything." I didn't understand then. I didn't understand a woman's intuition, long-suffering or staying power. The time and love investments we make is phenomenal. Sometimes to our own detriment no doubt. But guilt and regret are wasteful emotions, so we won't go there. I want to focus on our ability as women, my apologies, upper case W please! Our ability as Women to hold it together when the house is burning down around our ears. I want to talk about how we will stay, even when we knew we should have left years ago and threw all manner of red flags out there, and tried to "fix" broken relationships. I want to talk about how we will laugh when we really want to throw ourselves on the floor and have an old-fashioned crying fit. But we...

Maybe being "unrealistic" Isn't So Bad!

"Do NOT feed the fears" I have been called "unrealistic." I have been called "Polly Anna." I have been told to face reality, though this reality that I was told to face wasn't mine. But, when I speak the truth, I have also been called a cynic, so there's that(make up your minds!).  I have always found it funny those that call me or those like me, unrealistic. As a Black Woman in America, I get reality checks daily. It is all around me. On the internet, television, spoken of and passed through the DNA. The trauma is real. I don't need reminders or validation from others regarding the trauma, it's there. This is what I call the "Trauma Culture." This isn't people wanting to discuss the trauma, whatever it is, and then heal. No! This is let's roll in the trauma. Let's constantly mire ourselves in it until we can't think or act! Until we can't think about healing because we are so focused on the...

How To Keep Yourself Safe and Your Message Clear On Social Media

"Make your Vision so clear, that your fears become irrelevant."  I am not a Social Media Expert. Nor do I pretend to be. I, like a lot of people, use Social Media for fun and business. Meeting new people online can be fun and I do love the great conversations that I have had with many. For me, the positive outweighs the negative.  So this past week must have been a full Moon for ding-bats on the internet! The spewing! The verbal attacks! The out and out verifiable untruths that were being bandied about was amazing! The "Thumb-Thuggery" was over the top. Presenting Case #1: The Online Expert...of nothing.  You would think that when a person says they are an expert on whatever they say they are an expert of, they would be able to answer questions regarding topics connected to their alleged expertise(say that fast three times!)? Right? Well, I tried posing a question to one of these "Experts" and was called rude. What? Am I rude because I asked a question ...

BE.

This is more of a list of things to make life happier than a blog. Sometimes there are situations and circumstance that can and will make life difficult. I won't argue that because I know it to be true.  We might not at that moment, have the power to change our circumstances but we can change how we deal! Even now, some of you reading this might be going through some hard times. Financial difficulties, health issues(mental or physical), Family crisis, etc. Most of us have been there and will probably be there again. How do you deal with your anxiety? Do you overcome? Or do you succumb? I am going to sound like a broken record(I am okay with you saying so)but attitude IS everything. Years ago I created a BE list. This is my list to help me keep and maintain a better outlook on life, a reminder per-say. When we get caught up in the every day of It, IT being life, we can forget that we are surrounded by things to be grateful to and for. Here is my helper to you. Remember to BE: Aware ...

The Deletion, The Block & the Unfriending: My Pointer is Strong! OR You Have the Power!

“Today, spend a little time cultivating relationships offline. Never forget that everybody isn't on social media.”  ―  Germany Kent I become a little bit fascinated by stories of people arguing with folks online. Yet, some of these people don't argue with people offline, not a peep! I ask the same question everytime someone tells me of a "battle" online, "Do you know this person in real life?" "No." is always the answer. So my question is, why are you wasting your time? Do you even have these types of conversations with people in your family? When you pay attention you realize that people become something else online. This Clark Kent to Superman transformation is mind-boggling, or people will go in reverse. To the low down, disgusting, hate spewing, narcissistic,, mean-spirited pieces of trash that you only thought you knew. The internet affords people this, this dual personality, this keyboard "warrior" mentality. When I see this and I...

Are You Dumb?

"Racism, because it favors color over talent, is bad for business."  Steven Pinker Some years ago one of my more wealthy clients said to me that racism in business is not sustainable. That after a while, and it might take a while, like a piece of fruit, the rot from the inside starts to show. We see it all around us. Huge corporations that have been around for some time now, are being derailed, failing, lawsuits abound. Why? Because they forgot the first rule of business: Y our personal feelings are your feelings. But if someone is making money for you or can make money for you...Hire them and keep them. This is why I ask the question: Are you dumb? We live in an age where nothing is secret. Everyone is on Social Media spewing their hatred(s), outrage, naked pictures, etc. on various sites. As a money making business owner, why would you think it was copacetic to hinder someone in your business from progressing, make lewd/racial comments or be violent against someone be...

Entrepreneurship, Money and Health

"Entrepreneurship is the act of creating a business or businesses while building and scaling it to generate a profit. However, as a basic entrepreneurship definition, it’s a bit limiting. The more modern entrepreneurship definition is also about transforming the world by solving big problems. Like initiating  social change , creating an innovative product or presenting a new life-changing solution. It can even help lower unemployment rates through job creation to help reduce poverty. Entrepreneurship is what people do to take their career and dreams into their hands and lead it in the direction of their own choice. It’s about building a  life on your own terms . No bosses. No restricting schedules. And no one holding you back. Entrepreneurs are able to take the first step into making the world a better place, for everyone in it." Oberlo.com I agree with everything this mini-article said which is why I shared it. Being an Entrepreneur is very rewarding. If you open ...
