It's Okay To Be Happy!

"Happiness is not so much what is going on around you, rather, it is what is going on IN you."

My mind was made up. I was very clear with myself. Enough! No more drama, indecisiveness or melancholy. Done. I had finally come to a crossroads(not those Crossroads! No deal with the devil:)in my life where I needed to change...again. I had changed outwardly, but still had those toxic thoughts and feelings. I was tired. I knew that if I kept up with playing the same 'songs' in my head, I would backslide right back into my old behaviors of eating my feelings. It was time to deal.

Very little is needed to make a happy life; it is all within yourself, In your way of thinking. – Marcus Aurelius Antoninus

Happiness is a state of mind. A lot of people hate to hear this. They either dislike happy people(I am SO serious) or they depend on others to make them happy, then they don't have to be accountable for themselves and put in the work like the rest of us. That is called fear my friends. I have dedicated whole blogs to that, so I won't talk about that now. We are focusing on how to get some happiness. And the best way to do that? Change your thinking! No, it isn't easy. You have been thinking negative thoughts and having negative feelings a long time, so it is going to take a while to change this habit. But it is do-able! How does one change a habit? Stop doing it and be consistent. When something happens in your day to day that just might set you off in a negative way, don't allow it. Deal with whatever is at hand, then let it go. Don't atach any feeling(s) to it. If you have people in your life that are constantly full of drama, you have two options: 1. Talk to them. Let them know the journey you are on and how their behaviour affects you.
Not going to work? 2nd option: Cut them off. Distance yourself and let them figure it out. It ain't sexy! But if you aren't ready for a confrontation(it doesn't have to be a shouting match!)this is the way to go. Though eventually you are going to have to talk to them.

"If you want to be happy...Just be!"

I like this quote and I don't know who said it. But it is simple and straight to the point. There are so many quotes about happiness, that's how important it is. Before I sign out, I want to remind you that you have to allow happiness to happen. Allow? Yup! I have actually seen people fight against being happy. And believe it or not; I could relate. In our society, we are taught that happiness is some kind of Urban Legend, a myth. That in order to have or be happy you must suffer first. What a lie! Happiness can be found in the most simple of things: a flower, a really good cupcake, a good book! Did you have to suffer to have those things? No. Stop believing the lie that happiness comes at a high cost. Thinking this way will keep you a slave to suffering and drama. We are all works in progress and everyday you will learn to build on your joy. Affirm the love you have for yourself, approve and accept who you are, rebuild your world and happiness will be yours. Wishing you love and peace, but mostly Peace.
