Was That Supposed to Inspire Me?

I heard a story the other day that made my hair stand on end(that says a lot seeing that my hair stands on end anyway!) My hair on end and anger growing, I listened to this story told to me from a young lady that I have known for some time regarding how she was hurt by a Personal Trainer. Hurt how? I asked.  She responded by telling me this Trainer's training style: If you say the exercise is hurting you, they respond by saying "PUSH THROUGH!" You say it is really hurting your back, they say "NO PAIN! NO GAIN!" Really? She told me a few more things that were upsetting and I apologized to her for all of us Trainers that try and leave our ego's at the door. Here is the deal everyone, and I need you to remember this: Exercise, though sometimes difficult to get through, is done to make you feel better! Hiring a Personal Trainer is a smart and honest move for people that understand they aren't going to go the distance on their own. So I wonder: Why hire someone that isn't going to inspire you? And why keep them around if they are being mean AND talking about themselves all of the time?Plus NOT listening to you?  I pose a few questions to the Trainer: Why is your ego in the way of you doing a good job?! Are you there to give the best training's, all based on the Clients level? or are you there to talk about yourself and your 'Greatness?' You are there Trainer to build and support your Client(s) body and goals. That is it. Simple. To direct their motivation and keep them on point. Simple! Be an evolved Trainer, anything else is counterproductive. We all want Clients and client retention, don't we? When I asked this young lady why she kept this Trainer for so long? Her answer was one I have heard so much and one that gets us hurt all of the time: "I wanted to be loyal Dawn." This is the answer I receive in so many situations regarding services of any kind. Be it a doctor, cleaning service, trainers, etc.... "I just wanted to be loyal." The first person you need to be loyal to is YOU, especially when you aren't receiving good service. It is your time, your money and your peace of mind. Wishing you Peace and Love, but mostly Peace.
