Alternate States or Why Smoke Weed When You Have The Ocean?
It is amazing to me how being near the ocean( pick one, doesn't matter) can make you feel. Some people say they feel their mortality, small and insignificant or even scared. But as I sit here watching the Atlantic, all I feel or have ever felt, is hopeful. I have had the pleasure of living on both coasts, always near the water and nothing makes me feel so full of wonderment than the ocean. I am always in a better mood when walking a beach (who isn't?) I am able to think clearer, plan better and all of this without wine! A good friend, who is very much into astrology, tried to explain to me my love for water and anything aquatic by saying it is due to me being a Pisces. Hhhhmmm.... I said, because if that were the case I would be able to SWIM! This is what makes this all too funny to me; I don't swim. I was never taught and I love the water. I am not afraid of it, I will get in it with you, splash about and even put my head under, I just can't swim to save my life OR yours! so my friends theory is out of the window. It is way more simple than that, I love water because it has represented change for me. I looked back and my life changes usually started by an ocean, physically and mentally. I have learned some of my hardest and best lessons living by an ocean and I had some of my biggest breakthrough's living by the ocean, I can't help but love the ocean. When I moved to the Midwest years ago, I was having a discussion with a co-worker who was on her way to California for the first time and had never seen an ocean. She was so excited and I was telling her all what to look forward to. Well another co-worker piped in and said to us " I have never seen the ocean(s) and don't really care to, it is just water. We have Lake Michigan!" I just stopped and stared. Really? Though Lake Michigan is beautiful, if Lake Michigan could speak, it would even tell you it ain't like its kin; the Pacific and Atlantic! That is like comparing Lake Michigan to a puddle of water, what you been smokin'? Anyone who has ever been near an ocean knows better. If you have never seen one, put it on your 'Things to Do' list( I can't stand things to do before you die and bucket list! How morbid!) Get to an ocean! Relax, reflect, enjoy. Wishing you Peace and Love......
